Thanks for stopping by my site! While you're here, take a moment to sign my guestbook and place a pin in my guest map! Both only take a second or two, and are (relatively) painless. :-)

Three Things to Ponder:
1. Cows
2. The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery," and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians...It creates a hostile work environment.
Well, I just got back from the 2nd annual Magic City Brewfest, and I'm blagging about it on my new work eeeeeeepc, but that's not the point I guess as I'm blagging about the brewfest.
Ah...what can I say? It was the best of times...it was the worst of times...
Well, I'm sitting here tinkering with a neat new toy. I ordered one of the Acer Eee PC computers to test out...and I must say I think I'm liking it. It is a bit on the small side, and typing on the tiny keyboard takes a little bit of getting used to, but the eee pc might put the wheeeee back in computing for just the right users.
I started out just wanting to give it a whirl, but I must say that for the past several hours I haven't been able to put it down. Weighing just about the same as a nice liter of homebrew, it just feels right in my hands, heh heh.
Brewers and Beer drinkers of Alabama...your help is desperately needed! We are in the final stages of a long labor...to lift and repeal some of the last vestages of prohibition that our archaic state is clinging onto! House Bill 196 (HB196), the Gourmet Beer Bill has passed the House of "Representatives" and is now headed to the senate sometime this week for their vote. Please take a moment to read the following letter from Stuart Carter, President of the Free the Hops grassroots movement. There is a link in the email, simply click on that, find out who your senator is, and give their office a call. You will speak with a secretary I'm sure, but tell them that you support HB196 and you would appreciate your senator's support and yes vote as well!
Well, it's been a week since I brewed a 5 gallon batch of American Pale Ale and another 5 gallon batch of American Brown Ale. As mentioned in my last post, these were the first two batches where I used my new 02 tank to hopefully get a more robust fermentation...well, my milage apparently varied.
Well, I finally got off of the old duff and brewed today. I already have an American Brown Ale in the fermemter, and my American Pale Ale is about 15 minute into it's boil. I'm sure that even though it seemed ok for the first 15 minutes, now that I'm inside it will be spewing all over the freaking place. It's like the pot of wort knows when you aren't paying attention isn't it? :-(
Just got word a couple of days ago via the Free The Hops monthly newsletter that plans are underway for the Second Annual Magic City Brewfest! WHOOT!! I went up last year for the innaugural beer blast, and had an awesome time. Unless the evil beer spirts work against me, I'll be there with a vengance again this year, this time getting a hotel room so that I can hopefully try each and every one of the fest's offerings.
...to the other side. Hops that is. And please! Even though there were shoots from all three of my existing hills, not one single one of the little bastages had broken though the ground. I DID have a hop bud coming through the ground, but I worked some cow manure into the topsoil, and in the process that little nipper got covered again. I figured I'd let'er come up all on it's on. That way, it would appreciate it more.
