Brews on Tap at the Boll Weevil Brewery
Currently on tap we have the following:
TAP 1: An American Lite, but with some added bittering and aroma hops to give it a bit of extra punch. This light ale is about as close to swill as I care to produce, but still have a bit too many flavors going on in it to please the cattle that chug the mass produced carbonated water. "What is that that I'm tasting in this beer???"...."It's FLAVOR bitch!"
Tap 2: American Pale Ale. This beer is one of my favorites, and is typical for the APA style of brews. It has the citrusy cascade zest, and is dry hopped in the secondary for a nose full of fantastic Cascade aroma. This is a staple on the tap line up.
Tap 3: American IPA. This is the American microbrewery take on the India Pale Ale, so it uses hops from the American Northwest instead of the typical English hop additions. It is a bit more bitter than an APA, has more hop aroma, and also has a bit more alcohol content. This brew is slowly replacing the APA as one of my all time favorites and if it's not on tap, you can bet that a batch of it is in the fermenter.
Tap 4: Irish Stout. This is for the dark beer lovers that frequent the brewery, and is a nice reproduction of a Guinness, but with just a bit more body. I don't have a nitro or beer gas dispenser, so the body comes from malt additions rather than dispensing gas, but who among us likes having gas anyway? :-)
Tap 5: Double Wheat Bock. I've made this beer about 3 or 4 times now, and it has been nasty every time...but this time rather than dumping it, I let it sit in the keg...for months. And months...and I must say, that the funky yeast flavors that I typically associate with this beer have mellowed out, and it is a very nice brew, and a good holiday addition to the tap heads. It is a BIG beer, with probably 8 or 9 percent ABV, so it only takes a little bit to get you in the holiday spirit!
Reserve Keg: Nut Brown Ale. This was supposed to be another of my favorites, and American Brown Ale, but there was a slip up when I ordered the supplies, so it's an English Nut Brown Ale instead. Not bad by any means, and a brew that I make quite a bit, but still the disappointment of not having the ABA is there...so I'll just have to drink it to make room for more!
