Damned if you do...Damned if you don't
Well, today I got a wild hair up my ass and decided to do some updates here on the all too often neglected website. It's just another case of "no good deed goes unpunished" as installing the latest version of CMSMS (Content Management System Made Simple) FUCKED UP my website layout and menus. Rather than continue to fight with editing files by hand to hack together a simple to manage webpage/blog/soapbox site, I'm going to delete the whole damned thing and install Wordpress, and chalk this up to a lesson learned.
I'm already using Wordpress on several other sites I own or manage, but on my webhost, Dreamhost, I have been a bit less than satisfied with the speed of these sites from what I suspect is lackluster MySQL performance. Slow is better than fucked up though in this case, so Wordpress it is, possibly to be followed by a new host altogether.
I can easily backup and restore Wordpress to another host and be done with it. Upgrades are relatively easy and most of the time automated. Fuckups rarely occur, and it's a CMS that's more mainstream so it has a larger base of geeks making useful shit for it.
I don't know when this move will occur, and it might be quite a while given my current state of laziness and apathy, but be forewarned and if there is any content here you might accidently find useful....get it now! :-)
