This chili beer  (Cerveza con Chili as the label says) is brewed and bottled by Black Mountain Brewing Company in Cold Spring MN, for the Black Mountain Brewing Company in Cave Creek Arizona. Ok, now that we've established it's geographic pedigree....let's get to the good stuff.

This beer caught my eye while on a trip to a grocery store during one of my out of town trips. I had never tried a "pepper beer" before, but being a fan of both peppers and beers, it seemed like something that would be right up my alley. Upon opening the first one, I was struck by the aroma. You could actually smell the chili pepper along with the beer aroma. This again, was new to me, lol. The first sip struck me as another bland boring beer, probably a Mexican Lager (judging from both the taste and from the Spanish sub-titles). The chili taste isn't very prominent (or at least not to me), but you did get some of the pepper burn on the back of the tongue. Not a terrible hot pepper burn, but enough to show it's there. This is definately a beer I'll drink again.

As you can see in the glass, there is a pepper in each bottle, which gives the beer some visual appeal, and it needs it as you can also see by the brew in the glass. A very thin big bubble head that quickly disappears. I thought this beer was going to be highly carbonated judging from the foam, but it quickly fizzled out. All in all, this was a beer that I would buy again, if for no other reason then to freak out my friends that have never tried it (every one of the 5 or so people that tried it thought it sucked, lol). I think it would be VERY good with some chili or tacos or other spicy Mexican cuisine.
