Brew Reviews
Brew Review #3
This is a Canadian brewed Pilsner beer, and I can only assume it's Canada's answer to Bud/Miller/Coors light beers...or maybe to water, I don't know. If I had to sum up this beer in two words, it would be "Fucking Uneventful"...or two more, "Flavorless Canadian Swill." Ok, so that's three words, but when it comes to flavor, you can't put that into context with this beer on any level. I'm sure the "light" beer drinkers would have no problem with it, but being a fan of hoppy flavorful brews, this is a let down to me. I didn't figure it would be anything different, but I've never tried it and I wanted to. Total waste of $1.25 (that's US, so in Canadian dollars that would probably be in the neighborhood of 20 bucks or so I guess).
The picture here really doesn't do this brew any justice. It has much much less color than in the picture. As a matter of fact, I could drink nothing but water all day and probably pee darker than this brew. The head (what head?) was after pouring directly in the middle of the glass full force...and then it sat for about a minute. Head retention: zero. It does have a light and pleasant hop aroma, and a slight maltiness in the taste. Very low bitterness from the hops, but with a stripped down beer you can't have too much of anything in it or that element would overpower the "nothingness" of the other ingredients.
Their website says (and I quote!): "We have an unwavering commitment to using only the finest ingredients and time-proven methods to brew what we believe are among the best beers in the world." While I can't in any way speak to the quality of the ingredients that went into this beer (or more correctly, that DIDN'T go into this beer), as far as them believing this beer is "among the best beers in the world"...well, let's just say they fucking need to get out of the brewery a bit more!
This might be a good "lawnmower beer" on a hot summer's day, but I would rather have a nice glass of iced water or iced tea and then come inside after the grass cutting and have a real beer. I hate to bash this beer...but it's just not for me, and I am the one doing the reviews here.
I'd give it a *burp*...but I'm afraid it might end up coming back up. :-(
