Brew Review #8
According to the bottle, Peroni Nastro Azzurro is the No. 1 premium Italian beer. I'm guessing that this is the Italian equilivant to saying that Budweiser is the No. 1 premium American beer. Most of the lable is in Italian, and I can't read Italian, but I'm assuming that "Nastro Azzurro" means "Nasty Ass" in Italian. My Italian is severely handicapped I'm afraid, much like the brewers that made this stuff.
I think this beer had less color than the Labutts Blue that I reviewed, if that's possible. It has a very very light hop aroma, maybe just a touch of maltiness...but that may just be there because my mind desperately wants to call it a beer. It is a very very light lager beer...and thankfully the lack of hops kept the effects of the skunking green bottle to a minimum. It's a bit more bitter than the usual swill, so maybe the italians need that extra kick to choke down their cloyingly sweet tomato sauces. Dunno. It's all speculation at this point. Maybe this beer would have more flavor if it wasn't the third review of the evening...but somehow I doubt it. I did just burp though, so perhaps that speaks for its carbonation...or, maybe I'm just about to vomit. With this beer, it's hard to tell. :-(
