Brew review #13
http://www.pilsner-urquell.com/
Ah, Pilsner Urquell, the original Pilsner beer. Before the brewing of this beer way back in 1842, there were only darker often cloudy beers (according to the beer's label.)
I'm assuming that the darker beers were stouts and porters. What a shock this "new" brew must have been to the hardcore stout drinkers of the day. This brew has a slight hop aroma, and also some maltiness is in the nose as well. For a light golden brew, there is a surprisingly good amount of flavor. The flavor is mostly in the malt profile (at least to me)...with just a good amount of hop bitterness for it's paleness.
This has been one of my favorite pilsners...perhaps because they are the originators of the style...perhaps because it is good. Since this is all subjective anyway, does it really matter?
