Brew Review #14
http://www.rogue.com/brews.html#deadguy
Since I was dining on some fabulous stuffed 'n bacon wrapped 'n' grilled jalapeno peppers...I felt this review needed a brew worthy of stepping up to that plate. At first I was going to choose a nice 22 oz Arrogant Bastard...but since this will be the last brew of the evening I thought I'd do one that I haven't reviewed before, so I'm choosing the 22oz Dead Guy Ale from Rogue.
I honestly thought the mug held closer to 22 ounces...obviously I was wrong by about half that, heh heh. No wonder I'm trashed after two glasses from that big brute!
Anyway...the Dead Guy ale...as you can see, this one holds a head better than a guiottine basket. This has a wonderful hoppy and malty aroma, lots of fragrances for the nose to play with.
The taste is a good fruity ale taste, backed up by a full malt finish. This beer is more sweet than bitter...but it works, and it works well. This is a full bodied beer that will wash down the spicy peppers quite wonderfully! I do wish it finished with a bit more hoppy bitterness...but I'm a fan of Ruination IPA so I'm trying to keep an open mind here! :-)
All in all, a wonderful beer and I wouldn't pass up a chance to have one or two.
*burp*
PS, even this beer could not wash away the heat from these little pepper bombs. Obviously I left a seed or ten here and there when I gutted them. Hot hot hot! This is a case where a bit more bitterness and a bit less sweetness in the brew could have come in handy. When the mouth is on fire that sweetness really comes into play. :-(
