Brew Review #20

ThunderHead IPA from Pyramid Breweries

Pyramid Brewing

Being a tremendous fan of American Hops, the first thing I noticed about this beer was it's hop aroma...but, not the citrusy smell of American hops. This beer's aroma is more earthy and herby, which I'm guessing is from a more traditional hop. It has a nice crisp bitter taste as you would expect from an IPA, and has a nice but somewhat underspoken malt backbone.

To me, this beer starts and finishes with the bitter hop additions, so I like it as I tend to lean towards a more bitter hoppy beer rather than a sweet, grainy or malty. Fans of a more malty beer might be put off by this brew, but I liked it.

This from their website:

Original Gravity: 16.7
Alcohol By Volume: 6.70%
Malts: 2-Row Barley, Munich, Caramel, Carapils
Hops: Tomahawk
Availability: Year Round
Best Paired With: Fish, BBQ and all things hot n' spicy
